About

Halcyon is a theme for the Posterous blogging/social media platform and is based on the Austero theme by Cory Watilo.

The initial goal of Halcyon was to balance out Austero’s sidebar-heavy nature and to provide more room for content making it more like an actual blog theme that you might find for Wordpress or Blogger as opposed to the narrow-natured offerings that dominate the theme landscape of Posterous and its competitor, Tumblr. I realize that Posterous and Tumblr are often seen as a middle-ground between the short and fast pace of Twitter and a standard blog but I feel that Posterous has the power and features to be taken seriously as a full-fledged blogging platform and I made Halcyon to give it the room it needs to stretch and reach its maximum potential.

What’s New

New for Version 1.25:

  • Customizable CSS navigation tabs
  • Social media link hub with icons for many popular services including Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, LinkedIn, YouTube, DeviantArt and more
  • New Posterous favicon
  • Reordered sidebar
  • All images remotely hosted on a professional, reliable server (no more free image host)
  • Minor font and color tweaks
  • Minor alignment tweaks

Halcyon as your theme!

Notes

I have included the following icons for popular social media sites/applications:

I have set up the code so that all you need to do is plug in your user name/screen name and the buttons will link straight away. Since I am unable to comment Posterous theme code, please refer to the screenshot below to get a general idea of where you can find the button code. Of course you can delete the lines of code for the icons you do not wish to use.

Questions? Comments?

If you have questions or comments on this theme, please feel free to leave a comment in the comments section below. I do receive notification when a new comment is left and will respond to it as quickly as possible.

Thanks!

Thanks for visiting and thanks for downloading Halcyon, I hope you enjoy the theme!

  • Looks good. I think I may use it on my posterous soon (need to tweak it first). I too think posteorus can be used as full blog site (actually I'm doing that for a long time already)

A note: the space between the linktabs on top and the top post is too small. The edit/tags/autopost text from the editbox is overlaying the tabs.

Thanks! I am aware of the overlay, I actually tried it with space in there and didn't like the way it looked. I preferred the tabs to be flush with the top of the post container.
